For People Not to Fight

topic posted Sat, May 29, 2004 - 4:05 PM by  Eleph-
This is a thread dedicated to the rivalry between Sid and Larry (inspired by Sid's mention that they need to take some time off of the "M.E. issues"). Here is a thread that they can talk about books, movies and Mexican food (or whatever else they have in mind).

Note: this is also a place for other rivals to take some time to get to know each other.

Mexican food is always good to talk about but even better to eat. :)

You keep telling me this about Mexican. I still don't understand the fixation so many people on the west side have.

I hope to learn why you guys like it so much.

          Well "Eleph-",

          Thank you very much.

          Larry,

I am a student of pre-law from India, and plan to major in Public International Law and Enforcement Mechanisms. Let me tell you something about myself and my preferences.

Food --- Well no real preferences. I generally eat only home-cooked mom's food, and do not think there is anything better than that. Although I hate the Chinese food.

Books --- Mostly Chomsky. A bit of Ayn Rand. No fiction. Read a few 'self-help' authors.

Movies --- Like only those movies which carry a sensible message. Do not like watching actions movies generally. Love the animated ones that are full of comic incidents and one-liners.

I hope I have given a bit of things about what I like,

          Hope to listen from you,

          Sid.

I am a computer consultant in Souther California, soon to be in Atlanta metro area.

Food - I eat way to much fast food. Del Taco seems to be my favorite lately. They have awesome chili cheese fries. Like you I hate Chinese food. YUCK. I am a picky eater really, I stick to the basic stuff, I don't get in to any weird gourmet stuff.

Books - The Bible, non-fiction, fiction, technical.

Movies - Comedy and action. I love martial arts films. Some of my favorite movies though don't fit in to either category.

Hobbies - Chess, computer stuff, hiking, camping, frisbee, target shooting.

Well our sister raisen is an east coaster, so it's not just the westies that represent with the mex. food.
I don't like the mexican food around here, that's what happens when you visit san diego.

I like chess and shagg dancing
food, I like to eat live mice whole, not really
I like vegies a lot, get a salad for a meal quite often. Not really tied down to one food except sushi and sashimi.
books, lots. anything that does'nt suck. I am typically a fiction reader, most non-fiction books I find boring, I just have not found one I like.
movies, all kinds. I am a "movie buff?" some would say. I don't like movies that convey a shallow messege, but try to do it in a deep way. I guess the screen writer wanted to try and feel sensitive? Best example, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. What a load, I got the movie right off. The only thing deep about the movie was the fact it had scenes on a beach.
              hobbies, tons of them.

              That's pretty amazing Larry.

Well, so you kinda are an IT guy, right? You know in my high-school I wanted to be an IT guy as well, but then just deviated to International Politics and Law.

Anyways, it is always great to know a person as 'good' as you.

May God shower his choicest blessings on you and your family,

              Sid.

Books-Bible, prophetic fiction, realistic fiction, biographies

Movies-I'm usually cool with anything funny, I have to be in the mood for a tearjerker.

I may be wrong but isn't soul food pretty much the same thing as country food?

                  If not please educate me.

                      Country food? What is that?

Soul food is called that b/c we put alot of love in it, it's the food that you have to pre-prepare and cook slowly, it's good for your soul, makes you feel real good lets you know you are loved, you know like that.
